Revamping for Spring

Published on 8 March 2011 at 11:19

Thinking of freshening up your kitchen for Spring?

Here are a few ideas to inspire you for the lighter days ahead.

  • Give your current kitchens a face lift with a lick of paint.
  • Add a new handle or knob to current kitchen cupboards - remember you will need to use the same size handle because of the holes!
  • Retiling the walls with a fresh new accent colour - here shown are glass tiles that reflect the light beautifully.
  • A new splashback behind the cooker is a good way of adding colour and refreshing the look.
  • New worktops can transform your existing kitchen and a great choice is Quartz - great for a maintenance free surface!
  • There are now some super colours for appliances, here is shown a beautiful blue mercury.
  • A new window dressing, curtains or blinds will help with the new colour scheme and also an area you can be slightly bolder in pattern. See www.curtainsmadeforyou.co.uk a home curtain making service in the Cotswold area!

Green sparkles in Cirencester

Published on 25 February 2011 at 09:54

This kitchen was a dark and cold room to begin with. We removed a wall hiding the large dining room and this allowed lots of light into the kitchen.

A large preparation and breakfast bar was positioned between the two rooms and this made a very socialable space.

The kitchen cupboards were honey coloured Maple in a shaker style with an elegant steel D handle.

With the under cupboard lighting and new ceiling lights the green quartz worktops sparkle.

Distinctive kitchen in Cirencester

This project started with two rooms becoming one large kitchen with space for family eating area. The supporting RSJ was concealed in the ceiling irradicating any divides and so being able to rework the layout.

A glossy porcelain floor with underfloor heating was installed. Spot lights in the ceiling light up all the working areas and plinth lights add some sparkle around the island.

This Oak painted simple door was complimented by the porcelain large floor tiles, creating a sophisticated calm room.

The Star Galaxy granite worktops add the impact to the room and sparkles as you walk around the kitchen.

Calm in Clifton

A gloomy apartment in Clifton was transformed into a light and airy room. The 'Corbiere' painted oak doors were complemented with Bone Corian worktops. A simple painted oak knob added to the subtle scheme.

A red accent colour gave the room it's quirky personality with lovely leather chairs. The owners were keen to use elements from their previous kitchen and so the wall and floor tiles were the starting point.

  • Solid Birch doors and a slim bar handle with slate effect work surfaces were chosen for this new kitchen.
  • The random rustic wall tiles were complemented by the window blinds and accessories.
  • The floor tiles worked very well with the milky colour of the birch doors.
  • Spot lights were fitted over the sink for extra task lighting.

Spicy tiles in Northleach

  • A Cream shaker style door was chosen with long bar handles, giving a contemporary feel.
  • The laminate worktops were chosen to complement the wall tiles.
  • The kitchen was 'opened up' by removing two walls that served as a small utility.
  • We housed the washing machine, tumble dryer and wall boiler, hiding them from the open plan room.
  • A tall heated towel rail was fitted, replacing a small radiator, giving more heat and adding to the contemporary scheme.

A rangemaster oven was the focal point of the kitchen and we chose to use two extractors giving extra headroom.

The floor tiles went beautifully with the cream doors and the rustic wall tiles.

Warm Antique Pine kitchen in Cirencester

  • A loved pine dresser was the main emphasis of this kitchen and the focal point.
  • We integrated the top of the dresser into the kitchen design.
  • A small seating area was created by making an oak table at the end of the worktop.
  • The antique pine doors went perfectly with the existing pine and we used cream porcelain knobs adding to the country kitchen style.

A plate rack always adds the country into a kitchen design, especially with pretty plates!

  • The starting point was a renovation plastered and ready to fit.
  • Our Mowbray Maple doors painted Ivory and Cherry wood knobs were chosen.
  • Work tops were Busboard 'encore' solid surface, which were a huge success.
  • Foor and wall tiles were chosen giving a very calm and light feel to the room.
  • Clients own decorative objects gave the kitchen it's personal touch.
  • Storage solutions and special shelving made the room work well.

The starting point.

This photo was taken three quarters of the way through the fit, before knobs!
